1. The Parade of Lights
The Parade of Lights is a long time Denver tradition that is unrivaled. I can promise you two things – 1) it’s going to be a time you’ll never forget and 2) it’s going to be a cold you’ll never forget. Bundle up – did I mention it’s going to be cold? Although often below freezing, it’s totally worth it.

2. Ugly Sweater Run
Don’t worry, you don’t have to actually run. This 5k run / walk is the biggest, most festive holiday party in Denver. After you finish the course, enjoy a warm adult beverage!

3. Ring in the New Year on 16th Street Mall
Travel + Leisure named Denver one of the best cities to spend New Years Eve because Denver seriously knows how to party like it’s 1999. With not one but two fireworks shows (one at 9pm for the kiddos and one at midnight for well, the adult children), Denver rings in the new year with a big bang.

4. Attend a Sporting Event
You should know that Denver loves it’s sports, which is why it’s one of the few cities in America that teams from all major sports call home. December is a great month to catch one of the final regular season Broncos games, or you can always head to the Pepsi Center to watch the Colorado Avalanche or Denver Nuggets!
5. Zoo Lights
Truly fun for all ages, the Denver Zoo Lights brings the famous Denver Zoo to light with a festive holiday theme.
